Acer laptops follow the same pattern of symptoms in general when a dc jack is going bad.

  • Loose connection where you plug the ac adapter in.
  • Positioning or angling the tip of the power cord in just the right way to get it to charge.
  • Switching back and forth from ac to battery power.
  • Intermittent connection that gets progressively worse over time.

In the case of the video above I was able to hold the power cord at an angle to get the laptop to power on and charge the battery. This was a clear sign and symptom of a failed jack.
